The interface also is similar and basic, and characters babble to one another. The graphics of SimGolf aren't any more developed as the first version of the Sims game, released in 1989. Graphicsĭespite the plethora of Sims-inspired games in the market, this golf fantasy game still offers plenty of challenges for the creative who aren't peeved by its substandard graphics. As far as competition, SimGolf does offer multiplayer support and you can add up to four players in a stand-alone game. And yes, creating your course is actually as much fun as playing the course. Yes it was pretty simple, but it was really neat to actually play on it when it was done. Let's just say the course I built on my first sitting only took me about half an hour. The tool bars are pretty intuitive, and just about everything can be moved or sized to your liking. As you can imagine, the variety of objects you can use to personalize your course is quite impressive. You can choose from 154 plant types including ferns, flowers, and trees, 41 miscellaneous items including rocks, mountains, buildings, and golf carts, four tee markers, one flagstick, and one panoramic view consisting of blue sky and backdrop mountains. This is where you put in all the personal touches. Once done, your are presented with a map of your course, toolbars, and different windows. You start by selecting the size of the course, the ratio between the highest and lowest points of the terrain, and how hilly you want it to be. The second part of SimGolf is the Course Architect.
On the other hand, what makes SimGolf great is that you can build your own courses, which ultimately means unlimited courses. If you're looking for a golf sim with a good number of courses to start with, and the ability to take turns with a computer, SimGolf might not be for you. All you get from Maxis is Rancho La Quinta and The Prince Court, which you play against par, previous scores, or other players. Try it.Īs far as gameplay out of the box, SimGolf takes a hit with only two courses and no computer opponents. Or imagine controlling punting or a full-force swing with the mouse. I'd like to see it implemented in computer baseball as well. Although realism is a tough thing to cover in a golf sim (how close to the real thing can computer golf be?), SimGolf's new mouse swing is a better analogy to the real thing. I always felt like I was testing my reflexes rather than my form.) For those of you who must have the power bar or want to start with it, you can turn off the Swing Indicator and a Powerbar will come up instead. Although it takes a little getting used to, it is pretty intuitive and a lot more interactive than the triple click Powerbar.

When opening the Outlook app in Windows 10, it will get stuck at loading profile. Please check out Outlook hangs at 'Loading Profile' or 'Processing' for the latest.
